About Randall
My Mom had a bad alcohol/911/pill/drama problem and thus I was placed in foster care from 4 to 18yrs old. She was also HEAVY into black magic, witchcraft, tarot, and I seen and remember some things that convince me today that there most definitely is something else after we pass from here. TRUST THAT. In hindsight, I guess she did the best that she could with what she was working with. I never met my dad, an Aunt, Uncle, Grandmother, none of that. I lived with various families here and there in the ’system’, group homes, neighborhood alternative center, children’s receiving home, etc. That’s how I grew up. I began playing violin in Jr. High & High School. It was during this period that I was formally instructed in the art of music and music theory. I began playing guitar on 9/11/1997 and spent the first 3-4yrs of study practicing up to 12-18 hours a day. I obtained just about every Musicians Institute course material (jazz, theory, blues, rock, etc.) and diligently applied myself to fully comprehending and applying the concepts presented.
Though mostly known world-wide as a ‘shredder’, I play every genre of music at advanced levels. I have been teaching all styles & levels of guitar for over a decade professionally and privately . It is my goal with my students that they understand what they are playing, and why it works- instead of just being able to reproduce someone else’s chord/scale memory. I teach full-time guitar lessons privately in Modesto, CA as an Advanced Guitar / Music Theory Instructor. I own Modesto Advanced Guitar Instruction, widely acclaimed as the leader in music instruction in the Central Valley and abroad. I also am an On-Line Advanced Instructor for ShredAcademy.com and Shredaholic.com
I have submitted a ’Worlds Fastest’ claim w/Guinness [Guinness Claim No#: 232300] but now in hindsight I sincerely could care less about that aspect of playing. Guinness requires that one perform Flight of the Bumblebee, a chromatic exercise piece, and thus rejected my speed demonstration video(s) because: ’it was a scale exercise’ -(?) I’ve posted a few videos of the level of my speed and I just let people think what they want to think. At any rate, at the end of the day, what matters most is if you can play over changes... if you can actually understand music and share with others the song that you were born to play. Music never was nor should it ever be about sheer speed… as I’ve said all along, speed is nothing if not accentuated with slow, beautiful phrasing.
I am endorsed by some major music companies such as Kona Guitars, Celestion, Spectraflex Cables, Randall amplification, HotPicksUSA, V-Picks, Stylus Pick to name a few. I have done and occasionally do guitar clinics sponsored by Hal Leonard, as well as teach full-time. I play Professionally as a Demo Artist for Kona Guitars at NAMM each year in LA.
I produce my own prime time weekly TV show: Modesto Advanced Guitar Instruction on Comcast CH26 TUE at 8pm. I volunteer 100% of my time and talents to raising money for and helping Veterans Organizations and bringing awareness to their needs; also as a spokesperson for my local SPCA helping animals find homes and loving families; and doing fundraising to keep art & music in classes for my local elementary school district(s), as well as a huge advocate for Foster kids. I strongly believe in using my talents to help others for a cause much greater than myself; to me personally, THAT is art.
I know that the Lord gave me a gift in playing/teaching the guitar and so naturally, I emphatically keep in mind that each and every one of us are going to spend our eternity either in the presence of GOD, or in separation from GOD, all based upon whether or not we choose in this life to pick up our cross and follow Him. This life is but a dress rehearsal for eternity. The Lord gave me the gift in playing and I will forever give all the praise and glory to Him!
Thank You for your time and consideration, have a great day!
